it just occurred to me that i forgot to blog about my birthday? haha. the fact that i can forget about it tells you how much excitement i've experienced on that day. this yr's has obviously been much less eventful since frens are all over the place. but as i've always done for the past 3 birthdays, i'll take just a brief moment to note my blessings.

today marks my FOURTH day at the recep -.-
i seriously start to hate this place man. pray that the receptionist's son can discharge by today so that she can return to work by tmr please? the workload here is double since i'm to do handle both recep + HR stuff (even when im physically not in the HR), plus i always get weird questions/phone calls here and they make me sound stupid cos i have no idea who they can talk to regarding ???? matter. what do u expect! im new here....what.
wah shit i just signed a delivery for this damn man who scolded me the other day. im tempted to get a big marker and write a huge DAMN YOU on top. haha, and i just did a very childish thing: i shoved it into his pigeon hole with an unnecessarily large force :D yea as if he'd know.
STOP. ok back to MY own life. minus the working part.

whoa i just realise i haven blogged for quite some time.
haha i was almost late for work this morning! i woke up at 8! ok in fact i WAS late..buden..since there are some ppl who constantly dont appear in office until 915, im totally justified to reach at 9!
booo the receptionist is on urgent leave!! i was only informed this morning..like on the bus? rah. which means another day at the reception again. how interesting -.- they dont even have newspapers here la. borrrr...ring.
over the past few weeks in office i've found smth to entertain myself with - learn Jap online! there's this very interesting site (click here) with alot of gd stuff! that is where i go to whenever i have nth to do, apart frm fUng's forum :)
i have this Jin's photo on my wall and my manager commented that he was ugly!!

nui flew off to glasgow last night.
if u think i miss her, well u're wrong, cos i get a bigger materess to sleep on now. ahha ;)
work has been...un-challenging (boring seems like a really boring word to use) so far. not that i dont have things to do, but tasks assigned to me can usually be done in 5-10 mins (or at most 2 hrs) after which im back to stoning/thinking of interesting decos for my table again. so far im quite pleased with the progress i made :) show u when it's done
but the company printer is sort of running out of ink now i dunno how im going to continue printing pics for deco. and my manager just asked me why i chose to put tt OLDDD family photo on my table instead of more recent ones. and i anyhow crapped smth in reply which is totally lame/childish/random.
my medical report is...er..okay i think?
sigh, i've been worrying about it since i report to work. i got so stressed i even dreamt of being kicked out of company bcos i dint clear the urine test -.-
i get really excited when there are calls u noe! recep is an extremely BORING place to be at cos there's no sense of achievement or whatsoever here! u wont go like, hey i've successfully put XXX's call to XXX!
the receptionist is supposed to be back frm her lunch la but she always takes 15mins more. tsk i want to be back at office.

wow they didnt block blogger!
ok my company server blocks everything ranging from hotmail/gmail to friendster/facebook. the security is pretty tight here. but im surprised they didnt block baidu and all other mp3 downloading sites? hmm isnt that a more serious offence than..er..checking who's superpoked u on facebook?
time to update about everything's going on here.
as u can tell, im still quite free on my 2nd day of work. and my direct manager hasnt got time to meet me yet! busy hur. so im supposed to spend 50% of my time in this HR, and the other 50% in another HR - HR Operations to help out w another team. and in btw squeeze out about 5% of time to manage the lobby reception. mind u, it's the LOBBY okay. initially i thought it would just be reception in e dept or smth la..and it turned out tt im supposed to cover lobby reception for 45mins after lunchtime while e lady goes for her lunch. so far ive been taking forever to go thru e long list of names and get callers to the right extension number. the lady can rmb every single ext. number of the 300+ staff okay. dun play play ;)
but having the phone to u also means u can exploit it sometimes? haha shhh. but recep is not as easy as u think. apparently she covers things like recording mails & deliveries, mail franking, muslim lunch order, which all fall into the category of 'random business'. soooo many things to rmb!
apart frm recep i haven done anything productive yet but i think nxt week will be rather horendous. im supposed to alias with 11 diff departments for meetings of the new staff, and find 11 diff timings and venues that can suit all of the 6 new staff. if 1 cant make it the whole thing has to be rescheduled..cool hur. plus all the arrangement for interviews.. where u alias with the VIPs thru their secretaries and stuff like that. grr the whole company is basically made up of very busy people, excluding me at the moment.
i have 3 direct managers to report to. so far only met 2..and 1 of them is very very nice and funny! i have access to her appointment calendar and i saw this 'KTV with Jeslyn - 63o pm' thingy on it. haha! im alot like her..she cant stand the quietness of our office too so she turns on music in her own room! but i dun have my own room :( i can only secretly turn on my music at a volume that can only be heard 2 metres within my boundaries, so that i will not disturb the rest at work. so restricted =\
this whole block is so quiet la. hopefully when i go over to HR Ops it'd be livelier.
if u think all the diff portals that we use in HC are complicated enough, u seriously haven seen how things function in international companies. back in HC we have SMB, IVLE and ISP, this company actually uses 6 or 7 of these complex programmes simultaneuosly. makes me wonder whether there's rlly a need for them..some are extremely redundant and repetitive. but some of e things u can do are kinda cool..u try typing 'Michael' and hundreds of Michaels will appear, frm Zambia, Mauritius, Uruguay, London etc etc. even for a name like 'Martinez' u can find 42 Martinezes frm the staff la.
and if u work here u'll love fridays! not only bcos u dun have to work the nxt day. it's cos friday is the 'dress down day' (i only heard of it frm yen)! where u dun have to dress formally to work..u can wear jeans and mini skirts and whatever. which reminds me..i have yet to get enough formal clothes for the rest of the week. DARN..and my pay wont come until end of e month lor.
ive brought stuff to decorate my place abit.

and if i find the countless post-its on my glass partition useless soon i'll get rid of them so that i can put up photos and stickers! those of u who wish to have ur presence reminded of while im at work, u're welcome to send me little gifts/deco with ur pics on it HAHA! and i'll put them around me :D
photos of my workstation another day when i get my decorations done. my goal for the month is to make it look very comfy and homely :) and goal no.2 would of course be making myself useful for this place. see, im such a motivated staff LOR!

anyway, since im starting work tmr i've decided to read up on my company website more thoroughly this time. oh, and i just found out that kelei's sis works there too OMGOMG! it's a small, small world! but she's being posted to vietnam and leaving on friday.
it's only these few days that i realised im working for a rlly big MNC. according to eunice we read about BAT in our econs..well i dont rmb that though haha

(in an attempt to have an opening line other than happy new year)
back frm countdown date with hany, zuo, languan, qihui and msyang. well, it was not the will-go-high kind of countdown, but at least it felt rather warm to be surrounded by them. and i guess a big part of the reason is bcos lg's hse is simply tooooo comfortable!
and on the way back the DAMNED FEMALE BUS DRIVER confiscated my ez link! but zuo and hany's bus driver didnt! WHY!! and damn it, today marks the first day of 2008 and it means paying adult fare. which is like 3 times the student fare!! and mrt fares are even crazier. i've nv appreciated how cheap our fare was until today. heart painnn la. the tough part about growing up.
fine. since im getting rlly bored online and i refuse to start packing my boxes, i've decided to do a summary of 2007 and set goals for 2008. how uninteresting. but it's better than having nothing to do.
2007 :
- finally understood the meaning of 'working ur ass off'. thanks to the damned A's
- forced to cut down on the number of shows/dramas i watch
- final year at bkt timah.
(90% of these 6 yrs was spent there)
- caught up with 6H much more frequently this yr!
- paid more attention to my parents, esp after my mum's freaky lost-her-memory episode
- joined Facebook (?..!)
- attended my 2nd prom. 1st time having makeup that im so satisfied with. (thanks joke!)
- went through the stress and chaos of job hunting, 'hse' packing and moving. basically the toughness of living alone.
- appreciated the comfort of hostels. largely EXCLUDING the food part.
2008 :
- get to meet FUNG again!! the last time was 2YRS ago omg.
- earn and save $$$!
- give my parents $$ from my own salary
- hopefully a trip to HK using my own money too. i dun mind japan/china
- visit TVB!!
- NICE clothes!! time for more mature looking outfit since im erm..working -.-
- health for parents, as well as all my family n friends
- a meaningful yet stressless work experience. i want to be able to love my job!
- a good half year with ruiyi
- scholarship for uni! thats like the MOST IMPORTANT goal of this yr la. for this i can forgo the rest haha! um, valid for 2008 only la.
- less moving around please, i dread seeing all the boxes.
- more 6H/scholarz/6B gatherings
- a new phone =\
i think there are more but im lazy to think alr.
and i just feel like removing SuperWall frm my facebook - it's being abused by ppl posting/spamming chain/forwarded messages or simply meaningless stuff. SUPERWALL = JUNKMAIL
